Youth Track & Field


Youth Grades K-6 Track & Field

 Grade Levels: Open to Boys and Girls in Grades K-6. Participate in same grade/gender.
 North Campus: EBL Grades K-3 and FC Upper Elementary Grades 4-6
 Armleder Campus: Grades K-6

 Purpose:  We cover a variety of running events plus long jump and softball throw (Gr K-4) and shot put (Gr 3-6).
 For Grades K-4: To learn basic track and field skills to participate in non-competitive, fun track meets.
 For Gr 5-6: To build on skills previously learned and participate in competitive meets.

 Participation Months: late February/early March - mid-May 

 Practice Day(s)/Time of the Week:
 (No practice week of March 15 due to Spring Break or when school is not in session)
 FIRST PRACTICE @ NORTH CAMPUS IS THURSDAY, MARCH 4
 FIRST PRACTICE @ ARMLEDER IS MONDAY MARCH 8 


 EBL K-Grade 3: Mondays & Thursdays; immediately after school until 4:15 p.m.
  
 Armleder K-Grade 6: Mondays & Thursdays; immediately after school until 4:15 p.m.
 
 Upper E Grades 4 -6: Mondays & Thursdays: immediately after school until 4:15 p.m.

 Practice Locations:
 North Campus: 
 K-Grade 3EBL Campus near playground area. The Front Circle Carpool area & driveway to MCC will be
 blocked off for student safety.
 Logistics: Carpool/Bus students will go directly to EBL Gym after school. A volunteer will meet them there to
wait for Coach. Any students signed up for Eagles Landing will check in before practice. Their staff escorts
them to the practice location and retrieves them after practice.

 Grades 4-6:
 Mondays @ Founders’ Campus.
 Logistics: Bus/Carpool students will change quickly in the Upper Elementary wing restrooms, then walk through
the building to meet Coach at the 7/8 Locker Rooms near the Gym by 3:10 p.m. Any students signed up for
Eagle Zone (EZ) will check in before they join the group near the Gym. Coach will walk group to Prayer Circle to
begin Warm Ups and then practice will be on FC Campus, supervised by Coach and Volunteers. Pick up will be at
the Founders’ Campus in the yellow bus lane, near the sidewalk. Eagle Zone students will check back in to be 
picked up there.

 Thursdays @ High School Track.
 Logistics: Bus/Carpool students will change quickly in the Upper Elementary wing restrooms, then walk through
the building to meet Coach at the 7/8 Locker Rooms near the Gym by 3:10 p.m. All students will ride the
CHCA Shuttle Bus at 3:15 p.m. to the High School Track. Practice will be supervised by our Varsity Coach & 
Athletes. Pick up will be at the High School Track, just inside the main gate. No shuttle returning to FC.

 Armleder Campus:
 Mondays @ Armleder Campus.
 Logistics: Students will meet Coach who will navigate the group to the practice location.

 Thursdays @ High School Track.
 
Logistics: Students will be dismissed at 2:30 p.m. & be transported to the North Campus High School
Track for practice, supervised by Varsity Coaches & Athletes. Pick up is at North Campus High School Track, just
inside the main gate. No shuttle returning to Armleder.

 Competition Days/Times:

 Meet Information: We participate in CYO Track & Field League which hosts several meets at 
 Greater Cincinnati area high schools. We will attend 6 regular season meets on Saturdays (beginning 03/27/21 
 
and 1 Championship meet to conclude the season (on 05/15/21). *NOTE* Cleats are prohibited at all CYO meets.

 We will not participate on 04/03/21 due to the Easter Holiday weekend.

 Cost: $35 to participate in after-school practices & CTCYO meets. Provided to you is: Entry fees for runner in
 each meet, required Meet T-Shirt (wear at meets), meet labels for events and participation ribbons. Athletes must   supply comfortable shorts, running shoes and a water bottle. Due to sport restraints, if you participate in   practice, you should plan to participate in weekend meets.

 Anticipated # of Students: Relay teams must have 4 runners (can vary each meet). All field events and other 
 running events are individual sports.

For Communication this season, we will be utilizing the GroupMe app. Please install the app on your mobile device so that you receive important notifications.This will give real-time updates on team schedules, practices, cancellations and more. You will receive a message by noon on a practice day to notify you of a canceled practice.This will allow you ample time to change your child's after school plans. We will also communicate to your building Admin. If you need additional contacts added for notifications, please email name & phone number to Amy.Lutts@chca-oh.org.

 Expected Parent Involvement:
 We set high expectations for our coaches, families and student athletes that desire to be affiliated with
 our program. Parents are welcome and highly encouraged to help with coaching, head and assisting.
 No previous experience necessary, just a desire to promote fitness and fellowship to our students. 
 *NOTE* Parents are required to accompany their children to meets and supervise them
 between events.

 Sign Up Genius will be utilized to organize the many Volunteer Opportunities.
 Please sign up for as many slots as you are able. This will ensure a successful & smooth season.

 At Practices: Vital volunteer positions we must fill are: 
 * Practice Volunteers - assist in leading drills/activities directed by Practice Coach

 At Saturday Meets: Vital volunteer positions we must fill are: 
 * Meet Equipment Coordinator for K-2  
 * Meet Equipment Coordinator for Gr 3-4  
 * Meet Equipment Coordinator for Gr 5-6  

 Volunteer Requirements: (all CHCA Volunteers must be fingerprinted)
 1. Indicate availability interest during registration.
 2. Complete fingerprinting and background check through CHCA* (every 5 years).
